Semester 2 Playlist

This composition unit was the focus of our Quarter 4 studies.  Students began by reviewing last year's study of notation, as well as learning to read and write notes in Bass Clef.  Students learned simple rules for composing melodies and how to write and analyze chord progressions in both major and minor keys.

After learning and practicing these skills, students composed pieces in ternary (ABA) form.  After writing their composition, students created an orchestrated version of their piece in GarageBand.  Students recorded added drums and recorded bass, block chord, and arpeggiated chord tracks.
