MARIE MURPHY CHOIRChoir is an extra-curricular activity at Marie Murphy School. Students from all three grades are welcome to join Concert Choir. No audition is necessary; everybody is welcome.
Concert Choir performs at New Trier's Junior High Choral Festival, the Choir & Orchestra Holiday Concert, The Marie Murphy Music Festival, and the Marie Murphy Graduation Ceremony. In May, the music department takes a trip to Six Flags Great America. |

Mr. Michael Kirby, DirectorMichael Kirby "Kirby" is thrilled to be the choral director at Marie Murphy for the 2023-2024 school year. Kirby completed his undergraduate degree at Roosevelt University in December 2022 where he majored in Vocal Performance and Music Education. Kirby completed his first student teaching placement at Avoca West under the amazing supervision of Elizabeth Weismehl. Kirby then completed his second student teaching placement at Palatine High School under the incredible supervision of Matt Koehlinger. Kirby was recently a long-term substitute choral director at Schaumburg High School. There he taught 3 different choirs, AP Music Theory, and helped music direct their spring musical, Crazy For You. In his spare time, Kirby enjoys participating in community theatre and singing in different church choirs/temple choirs in the Chicagoland area.
